The Why

I recently watched a TED talk by Simon Sineck about businesses who fail versus those who succeed. At the heart of the successful businesses is their sense of purpose which Sinek calls their “why?”. The “why” is the determining factor for what drives us. Essentially, it’s why we get out of the bed in the morning. After watching Sinek’s talk, I pondered my own why. Why did I choose chiropractic? Eventually I came to understand that it is not a matter of why but more of a question of why not? Why not chiropractic?
In light of opioid addiction crisis, chiropractic is needed more than ever. Opioids are commonly prescribed for low back pain. This over prescribed population undoubtedly adds to the growing opioid addiction epidemic. But what if these patients had tried chiropractic first? I can’t tell you how many of my patients come to me after exhausting every other source. The vast majority of these patients respond favorably to our treatment protocols. This leaves so many of them asking why they didn’t try chiropractic first.
I grudgingly acknowledge that chiropractors are the red-headed step-children of the health care profession. I have heard some chiropractors make claims that have no scientific backing. However, one thing that is supported through evidence is the fact that chiropractic can help to alleviate neck and low back pain. Evidence based chiropractors can and should be the first line of defense for preventing and treating nonspecific mechanical pain. Doing so can help patients to lead a more active, pain-free, and, more importantly, drug-free life. This is what matters to us most at Hug Chiropractic.
At Bivona Chiropractic Clinic, our patients are our why. Hearing a patient tell me that they didn’t know they could feel as good as they do is one of the most rewarding moments in my career. Every time I hear those words, it’s as refreshing and encouraging as the first time I heard them. It’s a reminder of why I chose this profession. We are able to help people feel and move their best in the most natural of ways. To those of you who have used Chiropractic, I thank you for giving us the opportunity to help alleviate your pain. To those of you reading this who may be unsure if this treatment option is right for you, let me ask you “why not?” Why not choose chiropractic? Isn’t it time you had some real pain relief?
